Tanya Blais

short biography

Tanya Blais earned her B.A. and elementary (K-6) teachers’ credential at Fresno State University.  She earned her M.A. in Teaching at Grand Canyon University.  She taught first, second, and third grade in California for thirteen years.  She was also a Distinguished Teacher-In-Residence at San Diego State University, where she taught Math Specialist Certificate courses to practicing teachers.  Currently, Tanya is a full-time instructor at Texas Tech University teaching elementary level math methods courses.

professional interests

Tanya enjoys leading math professional development for practicing teachers.  Her specific emphasis is Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), a research-based framework for how elementary school students learn concepts of number, operations, and early algebra.  She regularly leads CGI workshops and presents at math education conferences nationwide.
