The American Council for the Blind is the nation's largest membership organization of blind or visually impaired persons. However, membership also includes sighted members. ACB strives to improve the well-being of all blind and visually impaired people by elevating the social, economic and cultural levels of blind people, improving educational and rehabilitation facilities and opportunities, encouraging and assisting all blind persons to develop their abilities, and conducting a public education program to promote greater understanding of blindness and the capabilities of blind people.
American Council of the Blind of Texas
The American Council of the Blind of Texas, Inc. (ACBT) was organized in Houston in 1978 as a chapter of the national organization of the American Council of the Blind. ACBT represents the interests of blind and visually impaired Texans. It currently has twelve chapters and three special interest affiliates. Though the majority of members are blind and visually impaired, sighted persons who share the common goals of ACBT are also welcome to join.
American Foundation for the Blind

A nonprofit organization founded in 1921 and recognized as Helen Keller's cause in the United States, AFB is a leading national resource for people who are blind or visually impaired, the organizations that serve them, and the general public. The Helen Keller International division directly addresses the causes of preventable blindness. They also provide rehabilitation services to blind people and help reduce micronutrient malnutrition which can cause blindness and death in children.

National Federation of the Blind
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is the nation's largest membership organization of blind persons. The purpose of the National Federation of the Blind is two-fold—to help blind persons achieve self-confidence and self-respect and to act as a vehicle for collective self-expression by the blind. Provides referral services, scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, aids and appliances and other adaptive equipment for the blind, advocacy services and protection of civil rights, job opportunities for the blind, development and evaluation of technology, and support for blind persons and their families, members of the NFB strive to educate the public.
Recordings for the Blind & Dyslexic of Texas
A volunteer organization, Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic of Texas is an educational library serving people who cannot effectively read standard print because of visual impairment, dyslexia, dyslexia or other physical disability. Their mission is to promote the effective use of accessible materials in order for all people to have equal access to the printed word.
Royal National Institute for the Blind, U.K.
The RNIB helps all blind and partially sighted people
in the UK. RNIB provides information and practical services to help
people with their lives. The organization works against barriers placed
