ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR GRADUATE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH  Open Rank
Texas Tech University seeks applicants and nominations for an open rank position for Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Research with specialization in one of the programmatic emphases of the College.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will have:

  1. a doctorate in one of the programmatic emphases of the College;
  2. national recognition related to his/her research agenda and publication record;
  3. a record of effective involvement with graduate education and research; and
  4. commitment to serving diverse populations.

Preference will be given to candidates with an understanding of the research methodologies typically employed across the field of education; an established record of collaboration and interdisciplinary research; experience with coordination of graduate student recruitment; and experience with the use of technology in teaching and learning, including distance delivery of instruction.

Responsibilities:  

  1. provide leadership for graduate education and research in the College of Education;
  2. stimulate research and scholarship among the faculty by coordinating seminars, discussions, and decisions on developing educational research, including writing grant proposals and securing external funding;
  3. facilitate modification of graduate programs to meet changing needs in the field of education;

Position Description:   Teach graduate coursework in higher education administration (universities and/or community colleges).  Advise masters and doctoral students.  Supervise doctoral dissertations and serve on doctoral committees.  Demonstrated efforts in peer reviewed scholarly or creative activities.  Develop distance education coursework.  Teach distance delivered classes.

SPECIAL EDUCATION   Endowed Full Professorship

Qualifications:    Established national record of scholarship/research, successful grant funding, leadership, and dedication to teaching in the area of autism spectrum disorders.  Experience working with K-12 educators; earned doctorate in Special Education with a focus in autism spectrum disorders and/or related developmental disabilities; and an established record of extramural funding. 
Responsibilities:  This position requires the applicant to identify potential funding sources, develop proposal ideas, write grants, coordinate grant management, and further build the extramural funding infrastructure to enhance the funding/research base for the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.  Other key responsibilities of this position include establishing ongoing relationships with external funding agencies; forming collaborative research groups across disciplines within the TTU System, as well as with school systems and community agencies; and organizing national research colloquia and symposia.
This individual will provide research leadership to the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research Teaching; serve on masters/doctoral committees; and teach in the autism spectrum disorders program. Preferred areas of academic focus:  behavioral and communication issues of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, transition for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, parent and family education concerning autism spectrum disorders; and/or professional development for teachers, as well as other issues concerning autism spectrum disorders.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY  Assistant/Associate Professor

LANGUAGE & LITERACY EDUCATION
Don-Kay-Clay Cash Foundation Regents Endowed Professorship in Reading
The College of Education at Texas Tech University is seeking an outstanding and nationally recognized scholar for an endowed full professorship beginning fall 2008.  We seek an established professor who will contribute to and extend our vision, share responsibility, communicate professional values, build consensus, and provide leadership to the Language & Literacy Education Program.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a national reputation for scholarship, research, teaching, and grant procurement with significant accomplishments in reading research and reading teacher education that would be sufficient to warrant appointment and tenure at the rank of full professor.  Additionally, this individual will be aligned with the vision of the Language & Literacy Education Program faculty for the development and establishment of a Reading Teacher Education Center.

An earned doctorate in an academic discipline or program area relative to Language & Literacy is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who complement the current faculty's areas of expertise:  Early Literacy, Elementary and Middle Level Education, Reading, and Language Arts.  Preferred qualifications include relevant professional experience in leading an academic unit and strong ties to professional communities.

Responsibilities
The College of Education at Texas Tech University prepares undergraduate students for careers in teaching.  At the same time our expanding graduate programs prepare students for teaching, research, and service in universities, public and private schools, government, educational agencies, and other human service professions.  The successful candidate would engage in teaching graduate level courses for the Language & Literacy Program and for related College of Education programs emphasizing language and literacy development.  Additionally, he or she would mentor doctoral students interested in pursuing the study of reading and writing. Other responsibilities include recruitment of doctoral students and extending the doctoral level programs in Language & Literacy Education.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in middle and/or secondary teaching, coursework, and with an established research agenda in social studies education.

Candidates for Assistant Professor should have completed a doctorate and exhibit potential for research and teaching while candidates for Associate Professor should have an established record of research and teaching.

Responsibilities:  Primary responsibilities will include:

  1. teaching and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students;
  2. providing leadership in teaching and developing social studies education courses for certification and graduate programs;
