Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society Holds Spring Induction
After a brief hiatus, the Texas Tech University chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, is well on its way of being revived again.
Restart of Organization
On Sunday, April 1, 2012, Kappa Delta Pi held its spring induction to welcome its new members and install its newly appointed officers. Kappa Delta Pi, which was founded in 1911, strives to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.
Chapter Advisor
This spring’s induction was lead by TTU faculty member and Kappa Delta Pi advisor, Dr. Susan Myers.
Newly Appointed Officers
Newly appointed officers included: Florencio Aranda, President; Connor Warner, Vice President for Programs; Ibrahim Yeter, Vice President for Membership; Vanessa Catano, Secretary; and Carissa Williams, Treasurer and Historian.
Number of New Members
Twenty-one new members were also inducted at the time. Dr. Peggy Johnson, Vice Dean of the College of Education, served as the keynote speaker and addressed members about the challenges and opportunities facing new teachers.
The induction was concluded with refreshments for new members and their families and friends. Kappa Delta Pi additionally welcomed 23 distance learning students who could not attend the induction.
