Academic Pricing is Available! Students, faculty and staff at Texas Tech University qualify for special academic pricing for many types of computer hardware and software. In addition, our university has purchased site licenses for some types of software, and negotiated for special pricing on others. Are laptops required in the College of Education? The College of Education does NOT presently have a laptop requirement or specific computer purchase recommendations for students. Minimum computer requirements for students enrolled in distance education courses are available, but students, faculty and staff purchasing new computers will want to purchase equipment with higher capabilities.
You need both a wireless access card installed in your computer and a compatible operating system with our wireless network, which uses 802.1X authentication using eRaider. More details are available. How can I obtain special academic pricing? Either order online directly from the academic pricing websites below, or order in person at High Tech, our campus computer store now located on the first floor of the TTU Student Union. Is Microsoft Office free for TTU students and employees? Microsoft Office is not technically free, as the university has negotiated and paid special licensing fees for MS Office as well as other software programs. Because of these campus-wide purchases, students, faculty and staff CAN DOWNLOAD FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE MS Office as well as other software programs for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Note that download and use of these programs are subject to the terms of the license agreement(s) available at the time of download. More details about the TTU Microsoft Campus Agreement are available. To download these programs, log into eRaider (www.eraider.ttu.edu) and click "software downloads." These software programs and operating system CDs are also available on CD at the campus High Tech computer store for a nominal charge. What other specially priced software is available? Discounted software pricing for Macromedia software programs including Dreamweaver MX 2004, Flash MX 2004, and others is available. Contact the campus High Tech computer store for ordering details. College of Education faculty and staff have additional options for obtaining copies of Dreamweaver and other programs.
