Literacy Coordinator Training

Literacy Coordinators attend 40 days of training throughout the year at Texas Tech University. During the training year, literacy coordinators engage in an intensive study of the Literacy Collaborative framework by observing in classrooms, participating in discussions, learning about the theories behind the framework and implementing the framework in his/her own classroom. They also study how to become effective coaches and how to work with adult learners.

Literacy Coordinator Roles

Following the training year, the literacy coordinator provides professional development for the kindergarten through grade two staff, demonstrates lessons, and coaches the teachers at his/her assigned campus. The literacy coordinator also continues to teach students every day.
