The Jones Fellowships
The Jones Fellowships are named in honor of Helen DeVitt Jones who was a native of West Texas, an honors graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and an educational philanthropist. She was noted for an interest in preventing educational problems by addressing them as early as possible.
To that end, she gave generously to support educational programs that were designed to provide preventive services.
She established the Helen DeVitt Jones Foundation to further her interests. The Foundation endowed the Jones Fellows Program in the College of Education at Texas Tech University.
Jones Fellows are expected to bring to the program an active spirit of inquiry, a strong commitment to the profession, and a desire to participate in student leadership and curricular and co-curricular activities of the College of Education.
