How-To Guides:
Access COE Shared Directories

Background

The COE presently uses 2 different shared directories for file sharing:

  1. In the computer labs, the PUBLIC folder on the "Starbuck" server is used for students and faculty to save and share files. All files in this PUBLIC folder are public access: anyone can save or open files in this directory or the subdirectories of PUBLIC.
  2. For internal purposes, COE faculty and staff utilize a different network directory named SHARE$ on the "EDUCJCN" server. This shared directory is dividied into a PUBLIC and PRIVATE areas. Xerox scanned PDF documents from the mailroom are saved in the PUBLIC / XEROX folder. Files in the PRIVATE directory are restricted access, depending on the area(s) to which faculty/staff are assigned.

These shared directories are available / mappable on computers connected to the TTU Network here at TTU, or when your computer has a successful connection to the TTU Virtual Private Network (VPN). More info about configuring a VPN connection is available.

A valid COE domain username and password is required to access these shared network resources. Please direct questions about COE domain user accounts to COE Technology Network Support.

For COE Faculty and Staff Windows users, the SHARE$ drive should automatically "map" as the "P drive" on your computer after you login to the EDUC domain on your computer. Open my computer and open the P drive to access files there. If the SHARE$ directory is not available on your computer, contact COE Technology Network Support.
