Dr. Charles R. Crews

Dr. Charles R. Crews graduated from Texas A&M University – Commerce with a PhD in Counselor Education. He is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the School Counseling Program in the Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership.  Charles comes from a long line of school counselors, both his parents were school counselors in the El Paso area, and both were Licensed professional Counselors. Charles has been involved with professional counseling organizations serving in a variety of elected positions. Most recently, he was elected to a three year position (President-Elect, President, and Past-President) in the Texas Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES, 2007-2009). He practices clinically using his Licensed Professional Counselor credential, and as a supervisor he meets with LPC interns weekly.


Dr. Crews has developed and continues to define research interests in the areas of school climate, school counselor preparation and outcome research, chronic technology use, and child/adolescent family counseling issues. Charles presents at local, state, and national meetings and conferences. Charles has served as a school counselor, a university counselor, and a consultant to many youth summer camps. He currently runs a consulting company for the training and development of employees in the area of sexual misconduct prevention.
Dr. Crews enjoys trips with his family, fly fishing, kayaking, and great food. He is an avid arm chair quarterback, and enjoys playing and watching soccer.
