Student Council for Exceptional Children

The Tech Student Council for Exceptional Children is a nationally affiliated student organization that is run by the undergraduate students in the Undergraduate Special Education Teacher Preparation program. These students meet once or twice a month to engage in service activities, social events, and informational meetings.

The Tech SCEC has thrown a many parties for the residents of the Lubbock State School, worked with Special Olympics, and listened to speakers who provided special information about persons with disabilities. The organization also honors both the Mentor Teachers from the Lubbock Independent School District and the program graduates with the annual End of the Year Reception.
