Nora Griffin-Shirley, Ph.D
short biography
Nora Griffin-Shirley is an Associate Professor in the program area of Special Education. She holds a M.Ed. in peripatology from Boston College and a Ph.D. in human resource development and gerontology from Georgia State University. She joined the faculty in 1993. Currently she is the director of the Virginia Murray Sowell Center for Research and Education in Visual Impairment and Coordinator of the Orientation and Mobility Program.
professional interests
Dr. Nora Griffin-Shirley’s research interests involve human resource development, aging and vision loss, personnel preparation of vision professionals, and orientation and mobility. Research funding from internal and external funding sources has been secured by Dr. Griffin-Shirley to carry-out her research interests. She has actively developed research teams including graduate students to pursue her research interests.
