Doctoral Advisory Committee
The doctoral advisory committee is selected and appointed immediately after passing the preliminary examination. The student will select a chairperson of the committee who will serve as the major advisor for the remaining part of the degree program. The committee is established with a minimum of four members (three from the special education faculty, including the chairperson, and one from the minor or related area).
The doctoral advisory committee will assist the student in the establishment of a degree program leading to the doctorate. Further, the committee will advise the student in other matters (e.g., dissertation topic, qualifying examination procedures, portfolio development, and doctoral internship).
A meeting of the student and the committee will result in the preparation and filing of the Program for the Doctoral Degree with the Graduate School. Graduate work acquired elsewhere may be applied toward the major and/or minor fields as deemed appropriate by the advisory committee and approved by the Graduate School.
