When evaluating a child for autism it is "best practice" to form a team. Members of the team are those most knowledgeable about the evaluation system and those most knowledgeable about the child. The goal of this team is to make a collaborative effort to gather information about a child's social, emotional, communication and cognitive development to determine eligibility for a pervasive developmental disorder including autism. The information and insight provided by each member of this team should be viewed as valuable and necessary.
