Undergraduate: Professional Secondary Teaching Certificate in 31 fields

 

Texas Tech University does not offer a degree or major in Secondary Education. Individuals seeking certification to teach in grades 6-12 must complete a major in the desired area of certification, meet all baccalaureate requirements for that major and follow all certification requirements as listed in the course catalog. To gain acceptance into the Secondary Education Certification program students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better. The courses required for certification are completed in a three-semester sequence. See the current Texas Tech Undergraduate Catalog for additional information.

The Post Baccalaureate Certification Program requires students to complete 12 hours of professional development courses plus student teaching or a two-semester internship as a classroom teacher. Those wishing to enter the program must complete or have completed a 24-hour teaching field of which 12 hours must be in upper division credits. Student grade point averages in these courses must be 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Course with grades of D cannot be used to meet certification requirements.
