Race, Ethnicity, and Community Engagement
in Higher Education

Texas Tech University’s College of Education is proud to invite you to the 2009 Race, Ethnicity, and Community Engagement in Higher Education Conference.

The 2009 conference will be held October 27th to 29th at the Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.

This conference will explore the relationship between race, ethnicity and the variety of partnerships that flourish in educational institutions and their diverse communities through service-learning courses, community-based research projects, and student-led multi-curricular activities. This conference promises to extend the discussion to a broader scope of race and ethnicity and invites a broad range of participants from across states and nations to define an emerging area at the intersection of cultural identity, diversity issues, experiential education and higher education studies.

The contributions of a variety of research approaches in building and sustaining such partnerships will be emphasized.  The conference brings together scholars and practitioners to discuss research topics in the study of service-learning and community engagement.
