Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies with Certification in English-as-a-Second Language or Bilingual Education
The Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) with certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual Education will prepare professional educators for teaching in a diverse society. Graduates are prepared to become certified as elementary teachers who can serve the needs of ESL or bilingual students.

Financial Aid
- All students applying to the Teacher Education Program need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are interested in scholarships or financial aid. The form is located at www.fafsa.ed.gov <http://www.fafsa.ed.gov>. Create a pin number and fill out the application. The Texas Tech University School Code is 003644.
- There is a new federally-funded TEACH (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) Grant Programfor students who intend to teach in schools that serve students from low-income families for at least four years and who are seeking certification in high-need teaching fields. Teacher candidates in high needs areas (Bilingual and ESL, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Science, and Special Education) with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 may be eligible for grants up to $4000/year. This program is administered through the TTU Financial Aid Office.

- Consortium agreements allow you to use your financial aid at two institutions of higher education. A consortium agreement will allow you to use your financial aid at both your local community college and Texas Tech University concurrently.
