Short biography
In June 2007, Dr. Kelly Fox was appointed in the College of Education as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Dr. Fox is a member of the Bilingual Education and Diversity Studies and a Center Associate for the Center for Leadership in Education. In addition to her faculty appointment, she is also the Coordinator for the College of Education at the Division of Off-Campus Sites in Fredericksburg, Highland Lakes and the Center at Junction overseeing the Teacher Education Program. Dr. Fox administrates the Teacher Education Program designed to increase the pool of highly qualified teachers prepared to serve the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs).
Prior to joining Texas Tech, Dr. Fox was a faculty member in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Dr. Fox has taught courses in language and literacy, classroom management, assessment, instructional methods and curriculum development, diversity and multicultural education.

research interests
Dr. Fox’s research is in examining the effects of students who receive most of their instruction via the Internet, video conferencing and other distance delivery technologies, including online chats, blogs. Her research focuses on faculty-student interaction, students’ preferred interaction tools, sense of community and satisfaction with online, video conferencing and distance technologies.
In addition, Dr. Fox is interested in examining how community college and university partnerships can expand pathways to teacher certification in a rural, underserved, high-need Texas region; and, in the replication of 2+2 models to other areas of the state needing to prepare ESL and bilingual teachers. Dr. Fox is a liaison for the education programs offered by pathway partners at Central Texas College and Austin Community College.
