Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) with English-as-a-Second Language Specialization
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) is designed to prepare undergraduate students to meet the instructional needs of second language learners. The MDS with a specialization in English-as-a-second language (ESL) prepares students to teach in ESL classrooms. Graduates of this degree obtain an MDS and an early childhood through sixth grade (EC-6) teaching certificate. Such individuals are certified to teach in any EC-6 classroom. After completion of the bilingual education courses and successful completion of the ESL supplemental certification exam, graduates are allowed to teach in ESL classrooms.
