Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) with Bilingual Education Specialization
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) is designed to prepare undergraduate students to meet the instructional needs of second language learners. The MDS with a specialization in Bilingual Education prepares students to teach in bilingual and dual language settings as well as English-as-a-second language. Graduates of this degree obtain an MDS and an early childhood through sixth grade (EC-6) teaching certificate. Such individuals are certified to teach in any EC-6 classroom. After completion of the bilingual education courses and successful completion of the language proficiency requirements and the bilingual supplemental certification exam, graduates are also are also allowed to teach in bilingual or English-as-a-second language (ESL) classrooms.
