What is a Naming Opportunity?

A naming opportunity, or tribute, is a time-honored way to support Texas Tech and recognize the donor or someone special. Names of alumni, faculty, staff and friends can be found on many buildings across the Texas Tech campus. The College of Education is offering once-in-a-lifetime naming opportunities for permanent recognition in the new building.
How will my gift be used?

While the cost for the 85,000 square foot building has been secured, the College of Education has many other expenses that state resources do not fully support. Your unrestricted gift may be used in a variety of ways that will address the most vital concerns of our times such as:

  • Provide scholarships
  • Strengthen new academic programs
  • Recruit nationally recognized faculty
  • Provide community outreach
  • Purchase equipment and academic resources
  • Fund research initiatives for students and faculty
What space is available to name? Locations can be found in the basement and on all three floors of the new facility. Prices vary according to square footage and traffic volume. While several rooms are already named, many other areas are available. A price list is available by area and can be requested by contacting Jenny Garcia in the Office of Resource Development and Public Relations for the College of Education at 806-742-1998 ext. 453.
What type of recognition will be given? An engraved sign made by a skilled craftsman will be placed outside the entrance to all named areas. This signage will pay tribute to either the donor, or a special person that the donor wishes to honor.
What form of payment is accepted?

Cash gifts, appreciated securities, and real estate gifts can be accepted to name a space in the new building. Gifts may be made in one lump sum, or may be paid over a three to five-year period.

Deferred gifts, such as bequests, life insurance policies, and charitable remainder trusts cannot be accepted for this campaign. However, if you are interested in making a deferred gift to the university, one of our representatives will be happy to visit with you about your options.
