Project TEACH 2+2 Program for the TTU Hill Country Sites

Project TEACH (Teacher Education Alliance Collaborative for Higher Education) goals address a national need to improve education through the preparation and ongoing training of all teachers serving English Language Learners (ELLs) in the state of Texas.
In the Hill Country, the College of Education and Project TEACH provide a well-structured, two-year Teacher Education Program (TEP) designed for distance delivery to the Division of Off-Campus Sites (DOCS) to expand opportunities for place-bound students, expand enrollment at the Texas Tech Hill Country sites and increase the number of highly qualified ESL/bilingual teachers in the Texas Hill Country region.
The Hill Country TEP is a 2+2 program where students take their first two years of lower-division coursework at a community college, then transfer into Texas Tech University (TTU) to take their last two years of upper-division coursework. Articulation agreements for an Associate of Arts and Teaching (AAT) degree have been established with community college partners Central Texas College (CTC) at Highland Lakes; Austin Community College (ACC) at Fredericksburg; and, Howard College at Junction to support the Hill Country pilot program which began in fall 2008.
Distance education courses leading to initial certification as an ELL teacher are delivered face-to-face, through Interactive Video Conferencing and through web-based instruction.
The Teacher Education Program in the Texas Hill Country is a partnership between the Texas Tech University College of Education, Project TEACH and the Office of Outreach and Distance Education (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/ode/).
