The purpose of the Burkhart Project in Autism Education is to build the knowledge and skill base of faculty, students, and parents about working with students who are autistic. This knowledge will continue to be disseminated to educators and parents on the South Plains, the Texas Hill Country and beyond.

The focus of Module One is to provide critical information about autism spectrum disorders. An overwhelming amount of materials are currently in circulation. A team of individuals have sifted through the information and created a logical framework to help parents and teachers begin building their capacity of knowledge about autism spectrum disorders.
