PRINCIPAL PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

The Educational Leadership (EDLD) Principal Professional Certification Program is committed to preparing and developing reflective educational practitioners. The principal preparation program focuses on the preparation of educational leaders primarily for entry-level positions in preK-12 schools. The Educational Leadership Principal Professional Certification Program espouses the belief that quality instruction in the classroom is at the core of school improvement efforts. Leadership for effective schools requires knowledge of curriculum and instructional processes, as well as an awareness of the ever-changing contextual issues of education. The EDLD Principal Professional Certification Program emphasizes: (1) sensitivity to the school context; (2) critical, reflective practice; (3) a problem-solving perspective; and (4) an action/change orientation. Program faculty seek to develop and maintain open dialogue for school improvement through continuing association with various federal, state, and local education agencies and professional organizations.
