Distance Learning Programs

Computer surfing the webThe College of Education at Texas Tech University offers a variety of distance delivered courses and programs of study leading to both graduate degrees and professional certifications. We offer courses that are entirely web-based, courses that are delivered via iTV (interactive televideo / video conferencing), and 'hybrid' courses that include a mix of face to face class sessions and sessions at a distance. Some of our web-based courses are entirely asynchronous (log on any time), while others include some sychronous components (for example, 'live' chat with the course professor and fellow students at scheduled times.)

Master of Education Degrees:

    3. Emphasis in Orientation and Mobility
    4. Emphasis: Educational Diagnostician
    5. Emphasis: Generic Special Education
  3. Educational Leadership (Hill Country only - see below)

Professional Certifications:

  1. Generic Special Education (Supplemental Certificate) Generic Special Ed logo
  2. Educational Diagnostician (Professional Standards Certificate) Educational Diagnostician logo
  3. Visual Impairment (Supplemental Certificate) Visually Handicapped logo
  4. Orientation and Mobility (National Certification) Orientation and Mobility logo
  5. Master Technology Teacher (Professional Standards Certificate - Requires initial teaching certificate)
  6. Technology Applications, EC - 12 ( Initial teaching certification for undergraduate students, note that only required content area courses are offered at a distance/online - listed "professional education courses" are only offered face-to-face.)

Hill Country Programs

Masters Of Education in Educational Leadership

Students attending class at a TTU Hill Country Campus (in Fredricksburg, Marble Falls/Highland Lakes, and Junction) can earn a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership via iTV and web-based courses. For more information, visit the EDLD website.

Master Reading Teacher Certification

The Master Reading Teacher (MRT) Certification is part of the Texas Reading Initiative. More information is available, including a program brochure and application information.

More information about Hill Country offerings is on www.hillcountry.ttu.edu. Courses offered for Hill Country students include iTV classes (section C01) and web based courses (sections 270-274).

More information about iTV courses and procedures for requesting iTV course delivery to your school / area is available.
