WHAT IS iTV? We use the term iTV (interactive televideo) in reference to courses offered using videoconferencing technologies. The term "IVC" (interactive videoconferencing) is used interchangably with iTV. Interactive televideo is a better term for this course delivery format than "interactive television," since it connotates an a dynamic, 2 (or more) way exchange of thoughts and ideas, rather than a 1-way "TV style" delivery of content.

WHERE TO DO iTV STUDENTS ATTEND CLASS? Students enrolled in an iTV course though our college either attend at one of Texas Tech's main campus distance learning rooms, at a Texas Tech Hill Country site, or in a distance learning room in the local school district or area. Unless students are part of a Hill Country cohort, individual students are responsible for coordinating local iTV room access and paying any fees charged by the local ISD or ESC for after-hours room access or technical support. A listing of our official and unofficial potential iTV site locations is available.

Our college presently has 3 iTV rooms, but we have access to other university iTV rooms as needed. We regularly connect to school district iTV rooms within the ESC 17 iTV network and around the state of Texas. More information about Texas Tech Video Services (including available rooms) and Texas Tech Hill Country programs and facilities is available on their respective websites.

HOW CAN I TAKE AN iTV COURSE FROM TTU IN MY AREA?

Review the College of Education iTV Site Approval Coordination page which details all required steps for offering an iTV class at a remote site. Recognize this can be a complex and time-consuming process, especially for new sites we have not connected to previously.
Locate the iTV class you want to take in our online distance education course database.
Submit a new online Request for Remote iTV Course Delivery by the published deadline for the class term. (If desired, you can view other submitted requests.)
Register on TechSIS for Students for the courses you have selected. You may want to delay payment for courses until your selected iTV site has been confirmed. Make sure you register for the correct section, as fees (and distance student fee waivers) are based on your section code! Our iTV section help page explains which section to register for, depending on your location.
If you requested an iTV connection at a school district or ESC iTV site, contact the iTV site coordinator for the site you requested and arrange for room access. (This information is emailed to you after submitting your request in step #3.)
Wait until site testing for newly requested sites is completed, and final site selection is made. Use our iTV Remote Connection Request Status database to get up to date information about requested sites.

If you have submitted an iTV remote delivery request previously, you can check the status of your request online.
